Abstract

In the present work, the theoretical calculations of the absorbance of spherical Fe nanoparticles dispersed in the ethylene glycol and n-propanol, computed from a summation of the Mie series for different particle radius in the range from 1 to 17 nm, is presented. In both solvents, the maximum absorbance increases and the bandwidth at half-maximum absorption and number of particles decrease. Maximum absorbance of Fe nanoparticles is higher in ethylene glycol than in n-propanol. In addition, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the size histograms of two samples are presented.
