Abstract

Photonic devices in microwave–terahertz range of electromagnetic wave are of great interest for various applications in modern testing and security systems. We present a simple and lowcost method for generation of millimeter-wave radiation. The transmission of such radiation through holes of various sizes (0.2-4 mm) was analyzed by detecting it on the photographic film. The transmission was significantly decreased in the case of the hole with diameter of about 0.4 mm. Generation of millimeter-wave radiation can be explained by the transition of water molecule from the higher rotational states to the lower one.
